Exercise Taiaha

It was very disappointing to cancel Exercise Taiaha this year, but 50cm of snow and temperature highs of 0 degrees do not make for good camping!

We have considered alternative dates to offer this camp but have been unable to squeeze it into our busy events calendar. Therefore we will all just have to look forward to the next Taiaha over labour weekend, 2025 (with fingers crossed for better weather).

Refunds for this camp are being processed.

If you were disappointed to miss out on Exercise Taiaha, be sure to sign up for Exercise PÅ«keko!

3B Uniform this week!

Reminder: It is the first week of the month so all cadets are to be in 3B uniform this week. Bring your jersey in case it is cold, but do not arrive in it.

We will be also having extra 3B weeks this term to prepare for the end of year parade. Please also wear 3B uniform on the 21st and 28th of November.

Ex PÅ«keko (Summer Camp)

A reminder that Exercise PÅ«keko is running 6th – 8th December at Hibburt Park (Spencerville).

This is a Christchurch interunit fun camp with activities like Amazing Race, Swimming, Sandcastle Competition, Top Team, Rogaine, Mountain Biking and Adrenaline Forest. This is a great way to meet people from other units in CHCH and end the cadet year with a bang!

Apply on Cadetnet ASAP as spaces are limited. The warning order is on the unit website. Applications close Friday 15th November.

Chief of Air Force Visit Tomorrow Night

This is a very special opportunity for a limited number of Christchurch Air Cadets to meet the Chief of Air Force. Although it’s not our parade night we would love to see great representation from 17 Squadron there!

Cadets should meet at the block at 6.30pm tomorrow night, Wednesday 30 Nov. Uniform is tidy and complete CWD. The event will be wrapped up at approximately 8.30pm.

If you have not already applied on CadetNet, please do so ASAP, applications will close off at 2200 hrs tonight.

End of year test

The end-of-year test will take place for each year group this week. The test is multichoice and completed using google forms. Therefore, bring a device or we will have some available to borrow. The test is used to award the year-level badges, but your results will not affect your progress to the next year of cadets. Best of luck everyone.

Costume Night – 31st of October

This week get ready to showcase your creativity at our Costume Night! Dress up in your most imaginative costume – there will be prizes for the best ones! Instead of bringing a gold coin, please bring a can of food or any non-perishable item. All donations will go to a local charity.

Let’s make it a night of fun, flair, and giving back!

A reminder that Cadets are required to attend for the final ’emu parade’ rubbish sweep in the evening of Cup Day, 12 November. This activity is open on CadetNet, please put your application in ASAP.
